From design to guest experience, a focus on sustainability shines in every aspect of our operations. We work with our associates, suppliers, business partners, and guests to reduce our environmental impact. Our efforts include the use of recycling bins throughout the hotel, floor-to-ceiling windows for natural light, and plants and foliage inside and out. We minimize paper collateral and use China, glass, and silver whenever possible. Other initiatives include water bottle refilling stations and biodegradable products in our OUTTAKES market. Every decision we make towards positively impacting the environment ensures a better today and a brighter tomorrow for all of humanity.
Kellogg Conference Hotel Capitol Hill remains dedicated to responsible sourcing and minimizing negative environmental and social impacts in our supply chain. We prioritize sustainable sourcing by ensuring our food is free of artificial hormones, locally sourced during harvest months, and from humanely raised animals. We also avoid using threatened or endangered seafood. Additionally, we hold our suppliers and partners to the same high standard as ourselves through socially responsible and ethical sourcing practices such as our Distant Lands Coffee program and local farmer's first program.
Eco-friendly practices in our kitchen processes are the standard at Kellogg Conference Hotel Capitol Hill. We know the origin of our food, use local produce, and support local providers and family farmers. To reduce food waste, we have specific programs in place that track waste and use stems, peels, and rinds for stocks, seasoning, and broths. Additionally, we strive to engage with our community by creating opportunities for people to come together meaningfully.
Each guest room is cleaned every third day to reduce water, electricity, gas usage, and emissions. To minimize plastic waste, we provide bulk luxury bath amenities and offer a reuse or replace option for towels. Window blinds are kept 3/4 closed to efficiently sustain indoor temperatures. We have a recycling program in place for guest room waste and minimize in-room collateral to save paper. Additionally, we participate in the Clean the World charity program by donating discarded bath amenities for sanitation and reuse in underserved communities. Finally, we provide coffee mugs instead of paper cups to further minimize waste.
Our meeting spaces use only reusable coffee mugs, glassware, silverware, and China in lieu of disposable paper products. And we provide water stations and refillable glass bottles instead of single-use plastic bottles. To conserve energy and reduce our carbon footprint, we have implemented a lights-out program that ensures meeting rooms are powered down when not in use. Additionally, we use LED bulbs throughout our facilities. We try to repurpose or recycle all client-discarded materials and signage from meetings. Lastly, we provide note cards to attendees instead of notepads to reduce paper waste.
Through our Planet Promise, we strive to achieve climate net zero by 2050 by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, preventing deforestation, reducing food waste, and promoting sustainable and healthy diets. Our dedication to sustainability drives innovation and collaboration across our business.
